A gynecologist from Indonesia has now become the ISGE president. I am grateful that I am one of the renowned endoscopy gynecologists in Makassar, Indonesia.
I have been working at Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital for about 30 years with more than 20 years of endoscopy gynecology experience.
I am one of the pioneers of endoscopic gynecology in Indonesia. My determination and persistence in learning endoscopic gynecology have brought me as one of the best endoscopic gynecologists in Indonesia.
I have performed thousands of laparoscopy and hysteroscopy procedures with fertility and endometriosis as my main interests. I have also been contributing as a trainer and instructor to endoscopy gynecology fellows for years, both in Indonesia and around the globe. I am concerned to promote endoscopic surgery to developing countries so there will be no gap between developed and developing countries in performing endoscopic surgery.
So, better women’s healthcare may be encouraged throughout the world with standardized and evidence-based procedures.
Late Professor Peter Maher was my inspiration and master. I learned a lot about performing endoscopic surgery from Professor Peter Maher in Australia.
I mentioned Peter Maher as my big brother and thanked him so much for letting him learn a lot of laparoscopy techniques.
In my leisure time, I like to travel and play with my family, especially my lovely grandchildren. In my 60s, I spend a lot of time teaching and training young gynecologists in Indonesia, especially at Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital and Hasanuddin University Hospital. I wish I could always give my best in terms of providing better women’s health care by encouraging young gynecologists to perform minimally invasive surgery in gynecology.
