ISGE General Secretary position motivation letter
My story with ISGE started long time ago, when my beloved Ornella Sizzi and Alfonso Rossetti introduced me to our Society and explained its great role in the Gynecological Endoscopy field.
They were and are really my mentors, guiding, teaching and supporting me from the beginning of my professional career and passing down to me the values of the ISGE task.
I was the first Chairman of the ISGE “Young Endoscopists Platform” from March 2014 to April 2017, in a period of important growth and involvement of young gynecologists.
After Ornella died, her role in the Society and also as pillar of strength was taken by our Medical Director Bruno Van Herendael, that involved me in the last years in several projects inside the ISGE.
So, after more than ten years inside the ISGE, I think to be ready to deal with a position of increased responsibility.
The mission of ISGE has always been teaching and spreading of knowledge, above all in Asia, Africa, South America, Oceania.
In West Europe and North America our collaboration with the other regional Societies should be implemented and used to draft shared guidelines and strong recommendations.
I think that our mission in particular is to develop minimal invasive surgery techniques in low income and developing countries: laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, vaginal surgery can be used also in rural areas.
In these countries is even more important that we help our colleagues to find solutions trying to combine sustainability and ethics.
My vision of the future of ISGE is that we must attempt to grow a new generation of minimal invasive surgeons in every country where we can have a voice.
It means that we must teach to local teachers the minimal invasive approach and the easy and cheap techniques at the beginning, that can have a best spreading and are ethically affordable and lasting.
Basic courses, webinars, direct mentorships are the means that we have and we must keep using restless in order to reach good results for our women and medicine all over the world!
