ISGE Nurses course
Belgium Antwerpen March 20th & 21st 2025
It was an honour to be invited to Antwerp to co run the nurse hysteroscopy training day alongside the president of the nurses Veerle Vuylsteke. The two days proved invaluable to the nurses who attended. The following topics were covered; Difference between what nurses do in different countries, how to become a nurseHysteroscopist, Pain management in hysteroscopy, Importance of communication, why hysteroscopy, Office based equipment and procedures and operative hysteroscopy.
On both days a hands on workshop followed the theory sessions. Day one focused on diagnostic hysteroscopy. The workshop on this day gave the delegates experience using thin
endoscopy equipment to see how they could move small objects around the training equipment. This gave thedelegates the opportunity to see what it feels like using scissors and graspers at hysteroscopy.
Day 2 focused on Operative hysteroscopy where the nurses got the opportunity to use a tissue removal device and equipment used forendometrial ablation. Hologic sponsored the course. Unlike any other course previously ran, this course was aimed atnurses assisting in the hysteroscopy room. The course feedback was excellent with all delegates stating they would be taking something back to the hospital they work in. We now look forward to running the next nurses day In Kent inSeptember 2025.
