ISGE-Sponsored Pre-Congress: “Diagnostic & Operative Hysteroscopy Lecture Program” at FIGO 2025
The International Society for Gynecologic Endoscopy (ISGE) proudly sponsored a Pre-Congress Lecture Program on Diagnostic and Operative Hysteroscopy during the FIGO 2025 World Congress, held in Cape Town, South Africa.
As the global federation uniting all national obstetrics and gynaecology societies, FIGO (Federation of International Gynaecology & Obstetrics) plays a pivotal role in advancing women’s health worldwide — addressing topics ranging from obstetrics, oncology, assisted reproduction, and menopause, to mental health, safe abortion, and endoscopy.
Hosted by the South African Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (SASOG), the 2025 FIGO Congress welcomed more than 6,500 delegates from 140 countries. With daily plenary sessions and ten parallel tracks, the event offered a comprehensive program covering every aspect of women’s health. Endoscopy, both laparoscopic and hysteroscopic, featured prominently through hands-on workshops and expert lectures.
Within this context, ISGE organized a three-hour dedicated hysteroscopy program, chaired by Prof. Bhaskar (Bash) Goolab from South Africa. The international faculty included:
-
Dr. Adel Sedrati (Algeria)
-
Prof. Peter Torok (Hungary)
-
Prof. Lubomir Mikulasek (Czech Republic)
-
Prof. Emmanuel Nzau Ngoma (Democratic Republic of Congo)
-
Dr. Rahul Manchanda (India)
-
Their engaging presentations held an audience of over 70 gynaecologists from around the world spellbound. A senior FIGO representative personally congratulated Prof. Goolab and ISGE for the outstanding session and presented a certificate of appreciation to Prof. Bruno van Herendael (ISGE) in recognition of ISGE’s contribution.
This successful session once again highlighted ISGE’s leading role in promoting excellence in endoscopic surgery and education worldwide. Prof. Goolab expressed heartfelt thanks to all lecturers, who self-funded their travel, accommodation, and registration to represent ISGE and share their expertise.
FIGO provided no financial support to the speakers, making their dedication even more commendable.
The next FIGO World Congress will be held in Montreal, Canada, in 2027, and the next ISGE Annual Conference in Algeria, in 2026.
